Installation standards for compressed air lines

I、General requirements

The installation of compressed air piping must meet the following requirements:

1. the laying of the pipeline should be reasonably planned, so that the length of the pipeline, the number of elbows and angles are minimised;

2. The compressed air pipeline should avoid close to electric wires, strong electrical equipment and pipeline heat source, so as not to affect the use of safety;

3. The support of the pipeline should be firm and reliable, and be able to withstand all kinds of forces, including self-weight, pipeline medium weight, wind load, earthquake force, etc.;

Ⅱ、Piping material   

The pipe material of compressed air pipeline should meet the following requirements:

1. the pipe material should be corrosion-resistant, not easy to aging material, such as galvanised steel pipe, stainless steel pipe, copper pipe, etc., should avoid the use of aluminium alloy pipe;

2. Pipe wall thickness should meet the requirements of safe use, generally should not be less than 0.8mm.

Pipe diameter      

Ⅲ、Compressed air piping pipe diameter should meet the following requirements. 

1. The pipe diameter must be designed according to the use of requirements and the length of the pipe, too small pipe diameter will lead to too fast air velocity, loss is too large, too large a pipe will lead to high costs;

2. Pipe diameters of DN20-100mm are usually recommended, depending on different usage requirements.

IV. Piping connection

The piping connection method of compressed air piping should meet the following requirements:

1. reliable connection methods such as thread, butt, flange or plug-in should be adopted, and corresponding sealing materials should be used;

2. Pressure test should be carried out after piping connection to ensure that there is no air leakage at the connection;

V. Piping support

The pipe support of compressed air pipeline should meet the following requirements:

1. the bracket for pipeline should be made of corrosion-resistant and not easy to age, such as steel bracket and stainless steel bracket;

2. The span of the bracket should be reasonable, and the spacing between the brackets should be no more than 1.5m to ensure the stability and safe use of the pipeline;

3. The height of the bracket should meet the installation requirements to ensure that the pipeline can be naturally drained to prevent water accumulation leading to corrosion and oxidation.

The above is the standard requirements for compressed air pipeline installation. In actual use, should also be timely maintenance and repair, to ensure the normal operation of the pipeline and the use of safety.
